We are a veterinary hospital located in Covington, Louisiana that compassionately provides surgical, medical & preventative health care to small animals, sheep and goats. Additionally, acupuncture services are provided to small animal and equine patients.The relationship that our clients develop with our staff members is unique. We strive to make sure every client feels important and understood.

General Animal Hospital was established at this location in 1972 and has been in continuous operation since that time. Many of our clients have been coming here for generations.

Gregory S. Labranche, D.V.M., CVA
 

Dr. Labranche completed his undergraduate work at Louisiana State University then attended Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 1988. After completion of veterinary school he entered a mixed animal practice which included small animal, food animal and equine. After five years of private practice, Dr. Labranche returned to academia and completed a three year residency at The University of Tennessee in 1996. He then returned to private practice and primarily worked in emergency animal medicine for two years before joining – and eventually – becoming the owner of General Animal Hospital in 2001. Dr. Labranche recognized the need for alternative/integrative medicine in his growing practice and attended the Chi Institute of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine where he became a certified veterinary acupuncturist for companion animal and equine patients.

Dr. Labranche is happily married with two incredibly talented daughters and a variety of pets, and he takes a particular interest in gardening and the art of bonsai.

Ashley Berthelot, D.V.M.
 

Dr. Ashley Berthelot completed her undergraduate work at Louisiana State University and graduated from Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2004.

Her veterinary career began as an equine veterinarian, starting with an AAEP Avenues internship at Littleton Equine Medical Center in Littleton, Colorado. Afterwards, she moved to the Folsom area where she continued to practice equine medicine for a number of years, until she transitioned to small animal medicine.

Dr. Ashley and her husband, Matt Garver, live in the Folsom area with their three children, six horses, three cate, and the family dog, Scout.

In her spare time, she is busy with her children’s extracurricular activities and attending LSU football games.

 

 

Danielle
Lead Veterinary Assistant

Danielle has been working at General Animal Hospital since July of 2005. During this time she has become an integral part in many patient’s lives. Danielle enjoys surgery and diagnostic testing, and excels in educating our clients. She has thorough knowledge of all aspects of our clinic, and is Dr. Greg’s primary technician. When Danielle is not at work, she is raising two young, beautiful girls.

Kaicee
Veterinary Assistant

Kaicee was born and raised in St. Tammany Parish. She had a passion for helping animals at a young age and excels at being a veterinarian technician. Her favorite part of working at GAH is assisting in surgery and acupuncture. When Kaicee is not helping save lives, she enjoys the great outdoors with her sidekick husky, “Harley”.

 

Bailey
Veterinary Assistant

Bailey is our newest vet family member, she joined our team in March of 2022 and she really likes working here.

Bailey is from Kentwood and she used to show Catahoulas. Nowadays, Bailey enjoys her time at home caring for her two dogs.
 

Cassie
Administrative Assistant

Cassie has been working at General Animal Hospital since August of 2006, and she’s gained experience in all of the areas of the clinic. Cassie is responsible for the management of social media and the website, as well as the clinic’s online communication. She is usually accompanied by her beloved black lab, Gusto, whose reputation at the clinic is as big & sweet as he is.
